CSC Litigation Management
System:
Corporation Service Company is pleased to announce
the successful completion of a SAS 70, Type II Audit of the CSC
Litigation Management System (LMS) and its underlying infrastructure,
resulting in an unqualified opinion from Deloitte and Touche—a
leading professional services firm, providing audit, tax, consulting,
and financial advisory services. SAS 70 is an auditing standard
developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and designed to enable an independent auditor to evaluate and issue
an opinion on a service organization's controls. The Type II Audit
Report contains the auditor's opinion, a description of the controls
placed in operation, and description of the auditor's tests of operating
effectiveness. CSC is committed to maintaining the highest levels
of client service, confidence and security. As a leader in the legal
services industry, CSC recognizes the importance of maintaining
the highest standards in executing its responsibilities in the litigation
and service of process arena.
This audit examined the CSC internal controls and
verified that these controls provide reasonable assurance that:
- Sensitive client data is protected and monitored by utilizing
logical security tools and techniques.
- Logical access to the LMS application, LMS data, and the infrastructure
of the information systems required to support the LMS application,
are configured, administered, and monitored to enabling restrictive
access to programs, data and other information resources.
- Physical access restrictions are implemented and administered
to ensure that only authorized individuals have the ability to
access or use information resources.
- Information resources are protected against environmental hazards
and related damage.
- Authorized programs are executed as planned and differences
from scheduled processing are identified, investigated, and addressed
to satisfaction.
- System events that impact—or have the potential
to impact—the performance and accuracy of information systems
processing are monitored, captured, prioritized and mitigated
or resolved in a timely manner.
- Networks and systems are monitored to provide notification of
outages and to determine system resource requirements.
- New and modified network, system software, applications and
database structures are authorized, tested and approved by management
and are implemented in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
- Computer processing environments are staffed in accordance with
previously determined skills and experience requirements.
